Roof Framing

Dimensions and Extensions Can Be Added and Edited in Roof Mode

Dimensions and Extensions can be added and edited in Roof mode making it easy to modify aspects of the roof, such as the spacing of individual framing members, roof outlines, skylights, etc. These commands help to create a more accurate Roof plan.

Roof Framing Can Be Labeled
When stick frame construction is created for the Roof plan, ‘Framing ID’ can be turned on as a Visible Item. This will display a label for each framing member. With this information a Roof Framing Schedule can be generated. All framing members will be indicated by an R followed by a number. If framing members have the same size, then they will have the same ID label.

Schedules of Roof Framing Can Be Created
When stick frame construction is created for the Roof plan ‘Framing ID’ can be turned on as a Visible Item. This will display a label for each framing member. With this information, the Roof Framing Schedule can be generated. It is an option found under the Notes menu for Framing Schedules. The Framing schedule gives the label, dimension information, and count for each size.

Size of Member Is Displayed When Edited
When a framing member is edited, the size is given. This includes the width, depth, and length.

Trim and Extend Commands Apply to Framing Members

Simple modification to the lengths of framing members can be made using Trim and Extend. These can be used in a situation where a framing member is too long or too short and there is an existing framing member that can be used as a Trim or Extend line. These commands will now work to more accurately amend the lengths. This is an alternative to using Adjust Item.

Wall Studs Can Be Displayed When Placing Roof Framing by Changing the Visible Items

When placing roof framing, it may be useful to see the wall studs from below. ‘Wall Framing’ has been added under the Visible Items menu which can be turned on to display all studs in the drawing for your reference. This allows for more accurate placement of framing.
