| Add
Cricket Command Added |
| Automatically
add a cricket anywhere along a higher wall edge on a roof
with this new command. A cricket is a built-up roof required
between a wall and a roof, for example, behind a chimney. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Add
False Dormer Command Added |
Save
time with the Add False Dormer feature, which will automate
the placement of a dormer. Simply select the window, select
the wall type, specify the roof pitch and style, then the
dormer is automatically constructed. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Add
False Gable Command Added |
| Adding
false gables is straightforward with the Add False Gable
command. This command is used along the hip edge of an existing
roof. Using Add False Gable automatically produces a separate
roof that ties in with two valleys and a gable on the outside
edge. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Add
Roof Edges Command Added |
| This
command allows easily adding additional roof edges should
design changes take place after the initial roof is drawn.
When the roof needs to be altered to cover additional or
modified areas of the building ‘Add Roof Edges’
can be used instead of erasing a roof and starting over.
With selecting the roof you want to modify, the command
can be used to modify or add roof edges to tie into the
existing roof outline. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Add
Saddle Command Added |
| The
Add Saddle option has been added to the Roof commands. This
will provide a built-up roof where there is a dead valley
between two roof systems. ‘Add Saddle’ will
automatically produce a roof that includes 4 valleys and
a ridge to tie into the two adjoining roofs. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Auto
Regenerate Flag Has Been Added to the Toolbar |
| When
a Roof command is selected, the Status Bar displays the
‘Auto Regenerate’ checkbox. When making complex
changes to more than one roof edge at one time, de-selecting
this option will prevent the roofs from altering. Once the
last change is made, then the roof can be edited to regenerate.

|
| |
| Auto
Roof Is Improved as It Handles More Cases Than in the Past
|
The
Auto Roof command has improved overall as it can place more
automatic roofs for additional cases saving time and effort
in creating them manually. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Bull
Nose and Double Hip Generate on the Same Roof |
| Bull
nose and Double Hip edge styles can be used together in
more overall complex roof situations. |
| |
| |
| |
|
| |
| Bull
Nose Roofs Form in More Complicated, Nested, Situations |
Bull
nose edge styles can now be used in more overall complicated
roof situations, such as having multiple nested bull noses
as part of the same roof system. |
| |
| |
| |
|
| |
| Calculate
Roof Edge Height Command Added |
| This
is a very effective tool that allows roofs to be generated
without relying on the height of the walls. ‘Calculate
Roof Edge Height’ allows you to select the related
walls; one being the target which will change its height
based on the roof information, and the anchor wall, which
is the known wall height. The ridge distance and pitch information
can be entered and the target wall will update its plate
height to match the new roof plane automatically.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Collinear
and Near Collinear Walls Are Treated as Single Walls When
Adding Roofs |
| When
there is a slight jog or transition between different walls,
the program can recognize them as a single wall in order
to place a proper roof edge as selected using Add Roof. |
| |
 |
| |
|
| |
| Dimensions
and Extensions Can Be Added and Edited in Roof Mode |
 |
| Dimensions
and Extensions can now be drawn in Roof mode. This offers
flexibility with being able to dimension or extension different
conditions, such as extensioning walls or dimensioning roof
framing. The items can be further modified through the use
of the editing. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
| |
| Double
Hip Roof Formation Improved |
Overall
improvements have been made to roofs in Version 13 which
include Double Hip roofs. These roof styles can now generate
under more complex conditions. |
| |
|
| |
| Dutch
Gable Roofs Form In More Complicated, Nested, Situations |
Dutch
Gable edge styles can now be used in more overall complicated
roof situations, such as having multiple, nested Dutch gables
as part of the same roof system. |

| Fascia
and Gutter Have Separate Visibility and Texture Control in
Softview |
| Fascia
and Gutter have separate visibility and texture controls
in SoftView. This allows turning on or off the display for
gutters separately, as well as, defining different textures
to them as separate objects on the SoftView model. |
|
|
| |
|
| |
| Fascia
and Soffit Control Added to the Edges of Holes When They Intersect
with the Exterior of the Roof |
| Roof
holes are used to cut away areas of the roof to eliminate
unnecessary or overlapping roofing material. It may be essential
to place fascia and soffit along the edges of the hole where
it meets the exterior of a roof. The new option for holes
will automatically place these materials in the exposed
areas of the roof. The roof will display more accurately
in SoftView. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Fit
to Roof Works on the Lower Floor of a Multiple Floor Roof |
| In
the situation where Multiple Floor Roof is being used to
stack two floors, a gable roof can be placed on the upper
floor and the wall of the lower floor can now be ‘Fit
to Top of Roof’. This will balloon frame the lower
floor wall into the gable end of the roof of the upper floor
above. Walls no longer need to be drawn on the same drawing
as the roof in order to fit to the roof. |
| |
|
| |
| Gable
End Improved When Top to Fascia Is Changed to Raise Elevation
of Roof (Energy Heel) |
| If
the ‘Top To Fascia’ value for a roof edge is
set low enough that the bottom of the fascia is above the
top plate, as in an energy heel, the gable end surface material
will now extend down in order to cover the gap. This should
display the gable end correctly in SoftView. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Gable
Style is Automatically Added to Any Roof Placed on a Multi
Height Wall Via Auto, Add, or Trace Roof |
If
a Multi-Height wall is detected when placing a roof by using
Auto Roof, Add Roof, or Trace Roof, then a Gable end style
is placed automatically. This saves time in having to edit
to Gables manually when walls have already been raked. |
| |
 |
| |
|
| |
| Gable
Vents Can Be Automatically Added to the End of the Roof |
Gable
Vents can be applied to Gable or Dutch Gable edges of the
roof. By enabling this option different styles and sizes
of vents can be selected to display. The position offset
can also be defined for its placement from the top of the
wall. |

|
| |
| Gutters
Allow User to Control Width and Depth |
| The
Roof Options menu now gives the ability to enter values
for the width and depth of gutters. |
| |
| |
| |
|
| |
| Gutters
Can Be Created with User Customizable Profiles |
With
the use of Profiles in Version 13, gutters can be created
in the library and applied in the Roof Options or edited
on individual roof edges. SoftPlan provides a pre-made gutter
library with different profiles to use for SoftView, but
additional custom profiles can also be added to it. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Ignore
Walls Option Added |
The
option to “Ignore walls” has been added to the
Roof Edge edit. If there is no wall or beam for the Roof
Edge to reference, this option can be enabled before the
roof is regenerated. The edge will not search for the nearest
wall to reference to, and it can be adjusted as needed. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Include
Walls Option Added to Generate Drawing |
The
option to ‘Include Walls’ has been added to
the Roof Options. When this is enabled and the command for
‘Generate Drawing’ within Roof mode is selected,
the drawing will automatically show the bearing walls along
with the roof outlines. This saves having to merge the bearing
walls into the generated roof plan if they are required
to be shown together. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Match
Roof Planes Command Added |
This
command can be used to select parallel roof edges to create
one continuous roof plane. The desired roof plane is first
chosen and then the ones to match it. They will be matched
in pitch, as well as, height so one roof plane is formed.
This is a great tool for forming cut-out roof styles because
the proper wall heights do not need to first be calculated
in order to reference the roof to them. With this method,
once the roof planes are set, the walls can simply be edited
to Fit to Top of Roof. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Opening
Top Can Be Edited to Match the Slope of the Roof Above |
A
new window type ‘Trapezoid” can be drawn from
the Windows Opening library. When this window is drawn in
a wall that is balloon framed (raked) to the gable end of
a roof, it will automatically adjust its top edge to follow
the slope at the same pitch as the top plate of the wall.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
| Profile
Added to Roof Style |
| |
| With
the addition of Profiles in Version 13, SoftPlan has included
a Roof library which includes different profiles to apply
to roof edges. These can be applied when editing roof edges
to create curved, bell-shape roof details or custom profiles.
The values for profile Height and Width can also be set. |
| |
| |
| |
|
| |
| Ridge
Cap Can Be Added to Roof |
A
roof plane can be edited to enable the option for Ridge
cap. Different materials are available which can be applied
to the Ridges. |
| |
|
| |
|

|
| |
| Walls
Can Be Automatically Added to the Saved Bird’s Eye Plan |
The
option to ‘Include Walls’ has been added to
the Roof Options. When this is enabled and the command for
‘Bird’s Eye’ within Roof mode is selected,
the drawing will automatically show the bearing walls along
with the roof outline. This saves having to merge the bearing
walls into the Bird’s Eye plan if they are required
to be shown together. |
