Horizontal
Spindle Option Added |
| |
Version
13 now has the ability to change the orientation of railing
spindles to horizontal. This is useful where the railings
need to be modeled to show cable railings. A Spindle profile
is selected to change the appearance of the spindles for
the 3D model. |

Lathe
Tool Used to Define Custom Spindles and Posts
|
| |
The
Lathe Template is used to create custom shapes for the stairs
Spindles and Posts. The Lathe allows you to “convert”
custom profiles out of square stock that will be used on
the 3D model and the generated working drawings. Once a
profile is added to the Lathe library it can be applied
to the railing. SoftPlan also provides pre-made profiles
that can be selected to use for the Spindles and Posts. |

Mitre
with Wall End Style Added |
| |
Where
a railing meets a wall at an angle, the option for the Railing
Post Style can be modified to ‘Mitre to Wall’.
This will cut the corresponding railing end on the same
angle to abut the wall properly. |

Railings
Can Be Added to Stairs and Then Saved in Symbols |
| |
With
Version 13 it is now possible to include the Railings as
part of a Stair symbol. This saves having to place railings
each time a stair symbol is drawn on the plan. |

Simple/Actual
Extraction Option Added for Spindles to SoftView |
| |
These
options control how detailed the extraction is for Spindles
in SoftView. For a more detailed model, the Actual extraction
can be selected. This option will need to generate more
surfaces which will take longer. This can generally be used
in the final stage of rendering. While still in the working
stages of the drawing, such a level of detail may not be
required. To save time the Simple extraction can be selected.
This option will still give an overall idea of the spindle
profiles. |

Snap Located Corners, Center, Midpoints |
| |
Further
development has been made to the snap points used in Version
13. When using a relative command (i.e. Move), it is possible
to use Cursor Snap to locate a specific point of a Railing
which include the center, midpoint and corners. |
