When I save my symbol, will the Paint pattern be saved as part of that symbol?

Prior to saving the symbol, you must first explode the Paint pattern. By exploding the pattern it will be converted to lines that in turn can be symbolized. To explode the paint, hover your cursor over the pattern and select Ctrl + E.

When using a Paint Pattern, it must first be exploded before adding the Symbol to the System Library. However, Solid Paint (Draw > Paint > Solid) can be used and does not need to be exploded. Keep in mind that the Solid Paint will not display in the preview when adding to the Library. You can turn on the visibility of the Paint using these Symbols on a drawing by going to Options > Visible Items and turn on ‘Paint in Symbols’.
