What should I use layers for?

In general, objects in SoftPlan are managed in such a way that most SoftPlan users have little or no need for the layer command. Layers would typically be used to control visibility in plan for groups of like objects. Furniture is an example of a layer that you might use, or your mechanical drawings may be imported from your engineer and put on a layer. When the items in the group are dissimilar in type, Building Options are probably a more useful tool.
