New Southern Home Designed Using SoftPlan - The 2007 New Southern Home was designed using SoftPlan by Chris Gooden of Gooden Design in Orlando, FL. The 10,200 sq ft showcase home features design, luxury, and technology for southern cottage style living. Featuring green technology, the New Southern Home is energy efficient and is built to withstand the extreme weather conditions of Florida. The home was built by James M. Krantz Construction Corporation and is supported by the Florida Home Builders Association.

Events such as the 2007 Southeast Building Conference and the 2008 International Builders’ Show allowed the public to get a view of the remarkable features and design of the home.

Chris Gooden worked with Krantz construction in the conceptualization of the home. The final plans for the home were done in just three months. For 19 years, Chris has been designing homes. Most of his projects are custom home jobs and most of his inspiration is found in colonial and French country designs. Chris researched green building technology for the New Southern Home and found the greatest challenge in designing the home was in learning about these new products.  Click here for information about the New Southern Home.
