Company “Down Under” Wins Excellence in Housing Award for the Second Time Using SoftPlan

Absolute Attics, a company using SoftPlan in Australia, recently won The Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Housing Awards. The winning category was for House Additions /Alterations /Renovations to the value of A$150,001.00 to A$250,000.00. Absolute Attics was not only the New South Wales “State Winner” for 2008 but they also took this prize in 2007.

The 2007 and 2008 winning building projects were for attic (loft) conversions of the roof space in an existing home. John Harper explained how Absolute Attics used SoftPlan for both winning entries to draw the plans and used SoftList to compile the material quantities. Also he described how SoftView 3D and cross sections were used extensively to help the client understand the physical limitations of the attic volume prior to developing any elevation drawings or working drawings other than the floor plans. SoftView 3D shadows were also used to determine shadow impacts of the external parts of the additions.

Mr. Harper adds, “In entering this category our company goes up against builders constructing a mind boggling range of alterations and additions. With a vast majority of these projects the work is external of the house by adding extra rooms, etc., giving an internally and externally visible ‘WOW factor.’ In our case a large part of our projects are within the roof space of an existing house, with only an internal ‘WOW factor’ making it that much harder to get through as a winners.”

SoftPlan congratulates Absolute Attics on receving this award two years in a row!
